Art to Wear


Sweatshirt jackets, skirts, purses, aprons and totes are some  easy sewing and quilting downloadable designs by Christensen Creations,  and since Covid 19 hit, we now have cute pieced face masks!

Play ball!  This little tote was designed with a pre-school boy in mind, but in Alabama, girls love softball.  So there’s a larger one for older sister.  Obviously, the genders could be switched, but two sizes are included with the detailed Christensen Creations instructions.  “Play Ball Petite Toteis easier than it looks and so cute for kids or grand-kids.

Pick your OWN Pocket you use this Christensen Creations “Pick a Pocket”book pattern.  Also pick your favorite size and favorite handles as well as favorite fabrics.  It’s graphed for 2  1/2″ quilt squares for quilters, but can be made of many fabrics.  The clear instructions  include a zippered pocket, one sized for a phone, a smaller pocket for the smallest bag and even a loop to hold a key hook.  Show off monogramming or embroidery on the front.  You can’t make just one!

NOTE: Libby has a leopard one, a zebra one with hot pink lining, and she made a pink toile for a good friend.   There are endless possibilities.

Rain or shine,  this Christensen Creations Rainbow Totebag is so useful, especially with a pocket made for phone, one for a bottle and a zippered one to hold change or small items.  Not hard to make–so make one for yourself and one for a gift.  Imagine it with yarn or as a diaper bag; it’s big enough for a ton of paraphernalia and so pretty that you’ll make everyone smile.

Skirts are cooler than jeans!  THIS skirt is a fresh summer meadow that showcases fun fabrics.  Made with either a rope waist or elastic, the “Serge’n’Sew Meadow Skirt” (below) is simple but quite unusual.  The Christensen Creations instructions show exactly how to serge and fuse the flower shapes and also explains how to adjust the skirt to ANY size.

Are you or someone you know the “Hostess with the Mostest”?  If so, this Christensen Creations (below) “U.S. Flag Apron” is definitely the cutest and most patriotic.  It’s also the most customizable in 3 lengths and 3 “breadths” of the bib.  Very quick and easy with no hand-sewing.  The 3 hot pads are different sizes and make great mini-quilts for a beginner.  Perfect for July 4th (or Flag Day or Memorial Day or Veterans’ Day, or frankly, ANY day!)
