These photos are not patterns; they are art quilts entered in art contests or custom orders. However, I hope they will give you ideas and inspiration for your own quilts.

-background is pieced with pieced, then appliqueed buildings -poppies are free-motion embroidery -windows have bias tape sashes, lace curtain and pleated shutters -largest quilt is a miniature, pieced from vintage scraps and properly quilted and bound -2 other quilts are my photos of my designs (from this website) printed on fabric -figures are fuse-appliqueed, including donkey in the barn, and all the tree leaves -house and barn are channel-quilted while the pebbles are stippled and the grass is done in free-motion, sharp up-and-down zigzags -the 3-D barn doors are simply inserted into seams

-log cabin pieced background -fused applique with fussy-cut flowers -yoyo magenta bush -sails padded with cotton batting -quilted waves in ocean

-center piece is wired to stand up -“glass” from plastic freezer bag -window sashes from folded bias tape – tiny handmade quilt, teddy bear and jeans
NOTE–this was started from my Wicked Twister (or Snake) quilt block. Follow link to order.

-large, simple blocks of animal prints -puffy trapunto center with 2 extra layers of puffy quilt batting, just free-motion quilting around each animal

-baseball diamond pieced in center, topped with appliqueed jersey with school name -appliqueed baseball bat and baseball -blacks and whites distributed symmetrically -one black/pink shirt and one pin-striped cut up to distribute around the quilt -two baseball prints added in corners/edges as needed
NOTE: the jerseys, unlike cotton T-shirts, were stable enough that I didn’t need to iron on stabilizer

-Elvis photo was printed on fabrics I got in Memphis 30 years ago! -large 3-D pink flower petals just tucked in the seams of a square -embroidered wording -little pockets making the diamonds are simply little folded squares layered onto the bigger block corners
Note that this corner application is explained in pattern “Salute the Colors.” Follow link to order.
AND the heart was derived from “Hearts for the Sweet” baby quilt:
