Description
I adore this lap quilt! It’s because I got to play with all my collection of batiks. I went through and pulled out the bright spring colors. I won’t lie; it’s tedious to make all these blocks, but if you follow my directions and slip the 3D butterfly into a seam, you can easily make them really come alive. it’s going to go in an art show this spring–cross your fingers–it’s hard for fabric art to win! –Libby P.S. I share this pattern with a woman in India–I wonder if she’ll make it with sari fabrics–wouldn’t that be lush?
Who doesn’t love butterflies? They appeal to every age from baby to grandparent as a symbol of beauty and freedom. This Christensen Creation design for 3D butterflies cleverly combines piecing and appliqué. It’s a bit challenging, but the step-by-step diagrams and photos guide you through marking, cutting, sewing, quilting and binding. The final product is amazing and scrap-happy, too, as it lends itself well using your stash and scraps. Give it a whirl if you dare!
